This level was set to be in a futuristic cityscape but the bar itself is a rare individual one that tries to keep the old aesthetics that you would find in bars of modern times. Even though it holds such old looks its broken since there are two fan groups that has separated the bar entirely making the middle their dividing point. When I was Making this bar, I felt as though there were so many futuristic elements, while you play as robots playing dodgeball. Yet I felt that there could be some bots that tried to mimic humans' settings. That's when the idea of the bar came to place.
2D Topdown Map
When creating the top-down map, I wanted it to feel as; if the players were in an actual bar setting that had the tables and the pool tables flipped over and utilized them as shields. Each team member stands against one another as if they were in a cowboy brawl scenario.
When working on the concept for each level piece, I was inspired to try and keep the usual bar aesthetics. Because I believed that even though these robots were against each other, They were looking at objects of past human design and reconstructing them in a future/modern trope. That's why the pool table looks as though it's being supported by rings, it's actually being using magnets to make the table hover. That's also why the table looks see-through; it's like a hovering table that acts like a tablet. The dartboard is more of a holographic image, being held together by a ring in the finished shot. The sign and the bar itself; produce more of simplistic nature instead of a digital one.
In the actual gameplay, the level looks more vibrant; while Fixing the issues shown in these images, like the sign and the dark lighting aesthetics but what I wanted to focus on during the design of this level was the idea that to make the level; feel as though it was a futuristic throwback.
