i had an idea for a city of oil that looked as if it was man made and had the design of something different my problem was how to create something like this so i start to use Maya to help me make it to how i wanted it. first i design the city using Maya then i used photo shop to texturize the entire city i did found out that i would run it to a lot of problems like the textures not matching up with the UV Map or the lighting wouldn't spread around the city like how i wanted but i feel that it turned out pretty good i am planning to make this city better and more realistic it by adding multiple pipes and buildings in the background to help give more depth to this city's structure. i planning to continue working on this to make it even better.
Textures
these are the textures i used for the city as they looked originally i edit the textures in photo shop to give the color to the city and depth. i got the textures from Texures.com a website that lets you use textures some are free and some are not i used the free ones.
Background images
This was what i used for the background of the city the problem was i couldn't get the castle in the image and that it look to unrealistic for this project but i kept the night sky cause it kind of match the theme but i forgot that this is a city of oil so seeing a starry night is harder with out a telescope. the image i used both photoshop and illustrator to help pull it off. the reason for no shadow textures is because i was trying to figure the lighting for this 2d image.
